Pocklington Canal consultation study

<Pocklington Canal ACIP>

New report commissioned by
British Waterways

A major consultation was carried out by Marion Blockley in 2011. This involved extensive consultation with members of the public and many organisations with an interest in the Pocklington Canal. The Audience, Conservation and Interpretation Plan (pictured left) was commissioned by British Waterways with the full support of the Pocklington Canal Liaison Group and funded by the LEADER Coast, Wolds, Wetlands and Waterways East Riding and North Yorkshire Waterways Partnership through East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The report was published on the British Waterways' website, from 30 January 2012 and the deadline for feedback was 20 April.

Marion Blockley has produced reports for various other waterways sites including Bingley Five Rise Locks on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, the Lune Aqueduct on the Lancaster Canal and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a World Heritage Site on the Llangollen Canal. The next step will be the creation of a Conservation Management Plan for the canal, which will cover both the wildlife and heritage features. Marion's report has been used to support a grant application to the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Update The Heritage Lottery Fund HLF has supported the development of full bid of approximately £500k, which will be submitted in November 2015 and will make extensive use of Marion's report.
