Pocklington Canal


This map gives the names of all the locks and bridges on the Pocklington Canal. Thornton and Walbut locks have been restored and re-gated and dreging has been carried out, allowing navigation as far as Bielby.

How to get to the canal

The easiest access to the canal is at East Cottingwith (down Canal Lane), Hagg Bridge, Melbourne Arm (down the lane beside the Melbourne Arms), Walbut Bridge, Bielby Arm, Coates Bridge and Canal Head (the picnic site is off the A 1079, opposite the Wellington Oak).
